Antique & Vintage Postcards

A sweeping bird's-eye view of Albany's grandest Chateauesque landmark captures the Delaware & Hudson and Albany Evening Journal Building in its full Victorian Gothic glory — the ornate copper-roofed central tower soaring above a curved plaza alive with early automobiles and manicured gardens. Designed by Marcus T. Reynolds and completed in 1918, this magnificent structure still dominates the Albany skyline and today serves as the State University of New York system headquarters. The card was mailed in July 1921 from Albany by a writer whose cursive fills every inch of the message space, addressed to a Miss A.C. Carroll in Cleveland, Ohio — a small window into everyday correspondence of the early Jazz Age.
