Postcard 1913 White Turkey Farm Inn Danbury CT RPPC Used 1c Stamp NYC

Danbury, Connecticut, USA1913Pre-linenGood

Cordova wrote to Ida from a sunlit farmhouse porch somewhere northeast of Danbury, Connecticut, where ladies in white dresses and parasols take afternoon tea on the lawn — this is "The White Turkey," a charming early-20th-century farm-inn and tea room that advertised itself as "a simple old farm house" on the main road to Brookfield and New Milford, reachable by telephone at 421-14 Danbury. Postmarked June 18, 1913, at Danbury, Conn., the card carries a 1-cent green Washington stamp and was addressed to Miss Ida at 174 W. 96th St., New York City. The message, written across the front below the printed inn description, reads: "This is the picture of the place where I am now staying and which I hope to see you soon — Cordova." The reverse features a charming hand-drawn road map locating the inn relative to Danbury Depot, Brookfield, and New Fairfield — a delightful piece of early Connecticut hospitality and social history.
