Postcard 1910s Nouvelles de Paris Novelty Pull-Out Accordion France Illus

Paris, France1910Pre-linenFair-Good

A fashionable Parisienne strides confidently across a railway platform, her navy traveling coat and plumed hat the very picture of Edwardian chic — and tucked under her arm is the secret: a traveling trunk labeled PARIS that opens via a small brass latch to reveal a cascading accordion fold of miniature photographs of the city's most beloved monuments. This charming mechanical novelty postcard, captioned Nouvelles de Paris ("News from Paris"), unfolds to show handwritten captions identifying the Opéra, Église de la Madeleine, Notre-Dame, Arc de Triomphe, Tour Eiffel, Dôme des Invalides, and Boulevard Montmartre — a grand tour in miniature tucked into a lady's luggage. The illustrated front is signed by the artist "Buck" in the lower right. These pull-out souvenir cards were enormously popular during the Golden Age of postcards (1900–1915) and survive rarely with the accordion intact and the brass latch functional, making complete examples genuinely collectible.
