An English traveler wrote home from Rome with evident emotion about walking the same ground where tradition holds St. Paul passed on his way to martyrdom — a message inspired by this very view of the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, an 18 BC Roman tomb so well preserved it was later built into the Aurelian Wall. Keats and Shelley are buried in the Protestant Cemetery just beside it.
