Postcard 1920s Linen Christman Hotel Bryan Ohio w/ Message

Bryan, Ohio, USA1923Pre-linenFair-Good

A traveler named G.A.B. dashed off a cheerful note — "Arrived at Bryan Ohio, 6 p.m., all well!" — from this handsome red-brick corner hotel, sending greetings to a family in Port Huron, Michigan sometime in the early 1920s. The Christman Hotel in Bryan, Ohio was a landmark of Williams County, its ornate Romanesque Revival façade festooned with striped awnings on every arched window and a distinctive corner tower capping the roofline. A vintage automobile sits at the curb beside the "Christman Garage" next door, and lush ivy climbs the side walls — small details that paint a vivid picture of small-town American prosperity in the automobile age. Published by the Graham-Ilger Co. of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, this linen-era colored card carries a 2-cent stamp and was addressed to a recipient at 14th and Miller Streets, Port Huron.
