Bonnie Oaks Lodge Lake Morey Fairlee Vermont Postcard 1964
Fairlee, Vermont, USA1964ChromeGood
Chrome-era color photographic postcard of Bonnie Oaks Lodge and Bungalows on Lake Morey, Fairlee, Vermont. The view is taken from the water looking toward the shore, showing the main lodge buildings and cabins nestled among dense hardwood and pine trees, with two Sunfish sailboats — one with a distinctive red-and-white striped sail — on the foreground lake. An American flag flies from a pole at the lodge. Published by Dexter Press, Inc., West Nyack, New York (catalogue no. 79465-B); distributed by Joseph Smith Advertising Agency, Burlington, Vermont. The Bonnie Oaks was operated by the Avery Family, which also managed the Norwich Inn and Motel (Norwich, VT) and the Tavern Motor Inn (Montpelier, VT). Season: Mid-June to Late-October. Mailed June 7, 1964, from Vermont (postmark partially legible). Written in blue ballpoint by 'Al' and 'Anne' to Mr. G.N. Morrell, Eagle Road RD 2, Newtown, Pennsylvania. Message describes touring Vermont, a stop in Montpelier for lunch, hopes to visit 'Cousin Dorothy,' and asks if recipient received an envelope in the mail. Signed off with a request to feed and play with 'Spiss' (a pet).
