"Arrived all right — had a Champion trip over," Bell wrote home to Coventry, England from Antwerp in August 1913, choosing this hand-tinted view of the city's magnificent Gare Centrale to mark the occasion. Completed in 1905 to designs by Louis Delacenserie, the Beaux-Arts station's soaring glazed arch and ornate dome made it one of the great railway monuments of Belle Époque Europe.
