Postcard 1908 Everybody Happy Bamforth Comic Men Street Scene Used USA

Middletown, New York, USA1908Pre-linenGood

Four rosy-cheeked Edwardian gentlemen in top hats and long coats lean into each other with exaggerated mirth on a colorful city street — a delightfully silly slice of early 20th-century humor published by Bamforth & Co., the celebrated Yorkshire firm that dominated the comic and song-card market on both sides of the Atlantic. Copyrighted 1908, this hand-colored photographic card belongs to Bamforth's beloved character comedy series; the men's theatrical poses and painted-on rosy cheeks suggest these were staged studio photographs colorized for mass appeal. The card was mailed to a Mr. H. Mac Innes at 33 Beacon St., Middletown, N.Y., with a brief message signed by "May" reading "Regards / Hope all is well" — a warm, cheerful note perfectly matched to the card's spirit. A 1-cent Franklin stamp (Scott #300 era) pays the domestic rate. Published by Bamforth & Co., Holmfirth, England and New York, Series No. 1092.
