Antique & Vintage Postcards

Lock No. 2 of the New York State Barge Canal gleams in sharp linen-era color as the massive brick walls of the American Woolen Mills loom beyond the water — a quintessential image of early 20th-century industrial Upstate New York, when Fulton on the Oswego River was a humming textile and canal hub. A green 1-cent Franklin stamp franks the reverse, postmarked Fulton, N.Y., September 7, 1932, and addressed to Barney at 610 14th Street, Port Huron, Michigan. The sender — signing off with a friendly "hope you are feeling fine also" — mentions that Uncle Barney and all the family are well and had a grand summer, and urges him to write soon; the teal-ink cursive is vivid and fully legible. Card no. 123425, published with the "Honor Quality Views" imprint.
