Postcard 1970s Chrome Mystic Seaport CT Charles W Morgan Whaler Ship

Mystic, Connecticut, USA1970ChromeGood

A vivid shot of tall masts and signal flags strung bow to stern, the Charles W. Morgan—America's last surviving wooden whaling ship—sits proudly at her berth at Mystic Seaport on a brilliant summer day. A bright-red-wheeled period dray cart dominates the sandy foreground, while visitors stroll the dock beside barrel exhibits, evoking the 19th-century whaling village atmosphere the museum so painstakingly recreates. Launched in 1841 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the Morgan made 37 voyages across four decades, and her preservation at Mystic Seaport since 1941 has made her the crown jewel of this living maritime museum in Connecticut. This unused Plastichrome chrome-era card captures the ship dressed overall in nautical signal flags, a tradition reserved for holidays and special occasions that would have thrilled any sailor of her era.
