The cottage, where Anne Hathaway lived before her 1582 marriage to William Shakespeare, has been a place of literary pilgrimage since the 18th century and is now among the most visited historic houses in England. Marion mailed this from Paddington Station in July 1936 to a friend Pearl in Kansas City, Missouri, explaining: "Because you are interested in literary matters, I thought you might like a card from Stratford. It is all very beautiful."
