Antique & Vintage Postcards

Two children wade at the riverbank beneath the Stari Most, Mostar's 16th-century Ottoman stone bridge, in this Austro-Hungarian-era view captioned in three languages — a bridge destroyed by Croatian forces in 1993 and painstakingly rebuilt to reopen in 2004 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This pre-destruction photograph is now a historical record of a landmark the world nearly lost.
