Sepia street view of Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner, London — the great triumphal arch framed by plane trees, with Edwardian pedestrians and early motorcars filling the wide junction below. Atop the arch sits the enormous bronze Quadriga, officially the "Angel of Peace descending on the Quadriga of War," the work of Captain Adrian Jones — a former cavalry officer and veterinary surgeon who became one of the age's most accomplished animal sculptors. The statue was installed in 1912, making this card a near-contemporary image of a London landmark freshly crowned. The reverse notes that the arch stands adjacent to Buckingham Palace and serves as the historic gateway for Royal Processions along Constitution Hill.
