The Sesqui-Centennial marked 150 years of American independence, running from June 1 to December 1, 1926 on a 450-acre fairground in South Philadelphia; it was one of the last great world's fairs before the Depression, drawing visitors from across the country and abroad. The aircraft overhead were a signature feature — the exposition hosted aerial demonstrations that drew enormous crowds, the age of flight still new enough to astonish.
