Fine silver gelatin photo postcard of the Manneken-Pis in Brussels — the diminutive bronze figure in his full architectural setting of carved baroque stonework, with the decorative shell-niche surround, scrolled pilasters, and the elaborate iron railing enclosure that protects him from the crowds. Cast by Jérôme Duquesnoy in 1619, the Manneken-Pis is one of the oldest and most beloved monuments in Europe — a two-foot-tall boy who has stood at the corner of the Rue de l'Étuve in Brussels for four centuries, accumulating hundreds of costumes, countless legends, and a permanent place as the symbol of the Belgian capital's self-deprecating wit. Published by Ed. Nels of Brussels, one of Belgium's premier postcard houses, as part of their acclaimed Serie Bruxelles.
