Pre-linen postcard of Interlake Walk in Macatawa, Michigan — a row of gabled lakeside cottages and a grand hilltop house tucked among the pines along the shore of Lake Macatawa. Macatawa Park grew into one of west Michigan's premier summer resorts in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, its cottages filling each summer with vacationers who arrived by lake steamer from Chicago and Milwaukee to escape the city heat. Someone signing only as Chas mailed this card home to Port Huron in July 1924, reporting a safe arrival and a lovely trip.
