Postcard 1950s Chrome Mexico Typical Views Two Boys Burro Illustrated

Mexico (mailed to Bountiful, Utah, USA)1958ChromeGood

A grandmother's wish to share Mexico with her grandson Stephen leaps off this cheerful mid-century chrome illustration — two barefoot boys in broad-brimmed sombreros, one riding a dappled grey burro while the other tugs playfully at his companion's foot, the whole scene rendered in vivid lithographic color by an artist whose flowing signature graces the lower right. Published under the "Vistacolor" Lito en México imprint by Ammex Asociados, these illustrated "Mexico Tipico / Typical Mexican Views" cards were staple souvenirs of the postwar tourist trade, prized today for their folk-art energy and warm palette. The handwritten message on the reverse, signed "Love, Grandmother," tells Stephen — addressed at 1859 So. 775 East, Bountiful, Utah — that she has a balcony off her hotel room overlooking the bay and the Pacific Ocean, almost certainly placing her in Acapulco or Manzanillo during the resort boom of the 1950s–60s; the postmark circle is present though the date text is faint.
