Postcard RPPC Old Covered Bridge Near Roscoe New York Catskills c1930s

Roscoe, New York, USA1945RPPCGood

Rare and atmospheric, this real-photo postcard captures the weathered dark timbers of a covered wooden bridge near Roscoe, New York — the famous "Trout Town USA" gateway to the Catskill fly-fishing streams — at a moment when the structure was clearly in distress, its approach already partially washed or fallen away, diagonal timber braces propped against the roadway, and a water tower visible in the wooded hillside behind. The stark black-and-white photography gives the scene a near-documentary gravity; this bridge has not survived into the modern era and images of it in this deteriorated state are scarce among collectors of Catskill and covered-bridge ephemera. The card was published by Tomlin Art Co. of Northport, Long Island, via Handcraft Press in New York City — a small regional photographic publisher whose cards appear infrequently on the market.
