Postcard 1903 Bad Lausigk Rathaus Germany Color Litho Town Hall Coat Arms

Bad Lausick (Bad Lausigk), Saxony, Germany1903Pre-linenGood

A jewel-toned lithographic glimpse of Wilhelmine civic pride — the ornate Rathaus of Bad Lausigk, Saxony, rises in ochre and grey beneath a soft blue sky, its corner clock tower and Baroque gabled entrance announcing a prosperous spa town at the turn of the twentieth century. The town's heraldic shield, featuring a Romanesque church rendered in cream and gold, anchors the upper-left corner, a common flourish of the era's "Wappen-Karte" tradition. Published by Hermann Kaiser of Bad Lausigk under catalog number 4581, this early undivided-back card traveled in 1903 from a sender signing simply as "O. Sommer" to Anna in Chemnitz — the terse handwritten inscription on the face side wishing her "die besten Grüsse," the best greetings, in the pre-divided-back convention that left no dedicated message area on the reverse.
