Postcard c.1910 Weida Markt Rathaus Thuringia Germany Real Photo Unused

Weida, Thuringia, Germany1910Pre-linenExcellent

A lone cyclist pedals past a hatted gentleman on the cobblestones as the massive bulk of Weida's medieval Rathaus fills the frame — its round clock tower topped by a green-oxidized onion dome, a "Ratskeller" sign just visible at street level and telegraph wires slicing the grey Thuringian sky above the market square. Weida is a small town in the Greiz district of Thuringia, and its market square retains much of this character today, though the electric tram infrastructure and period dress situate the image firmly in the Wilhelmine era. This sharp real-photo-style card was published by G. Friedrich of Leipzig (Verlag und photog. Aufnahme), printed in 1905 per the card's own verso imprint, and carries a dealer's penciled notation "um 1910/20 I" and catalog reference "X6518 / BRE 303," suggesting it passed through a specialist philatelic or postcard archive. The card is unused, with no message or address filled in.
