Postcard 1920s RPPC Patras Greece Vue Generale Harbor Lighthouse Unused

Patras, Greece1925RPPCGood

Storm clouds roll over the Peloponnesian hills as a lone lighthouse stands sentinel at the harbor entrance of Patras, Greece's third-largest city and its most important western port, in this atmospheric real-photo postcard from the interwar period — smoke billowing from an industrial chimney at right hints at the city's raisin-export economy, while calm harbor waters mirror the drama above. Patras (Πάτραι) was the gateway to Greece from Western Europe via Brindisi, and its bilingual caption — Greek Κyrillic script alongside the French "Patras Vue Generale" — speaks to the cosmopolitan, internationally-minded audience for whom these cards were produced. The reverse carries only a handwritten pencil notation "Belgien" (Belgium) in the address area — suggesting this card was part of a geographically organized collection — and the standard divided-back lines with no publisher imprint. An elegant, technically accomplished real-photo image with strong compositional drama and genuine documentary value for Greek topographic collectors.
