Antique & Vintage Postcards

Sweeping from a manicured terraced garden in the foreground to the broad curve of the Meuse River beyond, this elegant pre-war view of Liège captures the city at its gracious best — formal parterres, clipped topiary cones, a fountain basin, and the grand civic buildings of the Quai de la Boverie glowing in soft Belgian light. Tram rails thread the riverside boulevard while a lone automobile rounds the curve, placing the scene squarely in the mid-1930s. Published by the Brussels house of Ernest Thill under their prestige Photothill brand, the card belongs to the celebrated Nels series — a collaboration that produced some of the finest photographic postcards of interwar Belgium. The reverse is pristine and unposted, preserving the deckle-edged stock in near-mint condition.
