Postcard Budapest 1922 St. Gellért Monument Panorama Hungary 8 Filler Stamp

Budapest, Hungary1922Pre-linenGood

From the heights above the Danube, Budapest unfolds in warm sepia splendor — the Buda Castle dominating the hilltop, the Chain Bridge arching gracefully in the middle distance, and the spires of the Tabán quarter clustering below the Liberty Statue terrace, all framed by the lush canopy of Gellért Hill where the sender stood. This panoramic view, captioned Látkép a Szt. Gellért-szoborral (Panorama with the St. Gellért Monument), was posted on 26 February 1922 — the turbulent interwar period just after Hungary's territorial losses under the Treaty of Trianon — and sent by a writer identified as "Fedora" to a young woman named Joly at Zákla, via Felsőpaty, Vas county. The Hungarian 8 filler rose stamp of the 1920 definitive series neatly cancels the upper right corner.
