Antique & Vintage Postcards

A double-decker electric tram rumbles across the ornate Blauwbrug (Blue Bridge) over the Amstel River in turn-of-the-century Amsterdam, while Edwardian pedestrians in long coats and wide-brimmed hats stroll beneath iron lampposts — a beautifully sharp real-photograph record of the Dutch capital at its confident, canal-era peak. The Blauwbrug, rebuilt in 1884 in the style of Paris's Pont Alexandre III, gleams with its stone balustrades and elaborate lamp standards, while the imposing façades of Waterlooplein-area commercial buildings crowd the far bank. Published by J. Sleding of Amsterdam, this undivided or early divided-back card dates to approximately 1905–1915 based on the Dutch-language "AAN" address format and the NNS stamp box notation, consistent with early Dutch postal regulations. The card is unused and preserves extraordinary tonal clarity in its photographic printing.
