Antique & Vintage Postcards

Vintage automobiles — a red coupe, a golden yellow sedan, and a sleek black car — dot the circular drive fronting Tabor Academy's handsome half-timbered Administration Building and Dormitories in Marion, Massachusetts, in this richly colored linen-era postcard that captures the school at the height of its mid-century prestige. Founded in 1876 and perched on Sippican Harbor on Buzzards Bay, Tabor Academy has long been celebrated for its maritime curriculum and New England prep school character; the Tudor Revival main building shown here remains a centerpiece of campus today. The linen texture, saturated colors, and the style of automobiles visible (c.1938–1942 models) date this card to the early 1940s. Published by the New Bedford News Co. and printed by a Curteich-affiliated process, it is unused and in excellent condition with only minor shelf wear.
