Postcard 1929 Berlin Germany Opernhaus Hedwigskirche RPPC Used Karl

Berlin, Germany1929RPPCGood

Berlin's grandest neoclassical boulevard comes alive in this sharp 1929 real-photo postcard: the massive porticoed bulk of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden fills the left, while the round Baroque dome of St. Hedwig's Cathedral peeks from the right — and a double-decker bus boldly advertising Chlorodant toothpaste rumbles past horse-drawn carts and early motorcars, a perfect freeze-frame of Weimar-era street life. The sender, writing from a Berlin address at Krausenstraße 15, dashed off a densely written message on 9 August 1929 to Karl, an employment agent (Arbeitsvermittler) in Wiesbaden — mentioning the opera house itself, a meeting at 25 past, and the Lotte café. The 8-pfennig Hindenburg definitive stamp is cleanly cancelled with a Berlin machine cancel dated 9.8.29, placing this card precisely in the late Weimar Republic.
