Vivid halftone color washes over this bird's-eye view of downtown Los Angeles at its Edwardian peak — the massive Romanesque Revival County Courthouse with its soaring clock tower dominates the left, while the newer Hall of Records stretches beside it in creamy Beaux-Arts grandeur, American flags snapping from both rooflines. Electric streetcars thread the wide boulevard below, and the legend "COUNTY COURT HOUSE" is letterpressed in bold green across the foreground lawn — a civic pride flourish typical of the era. The courthouse, completed in 1891 and demolished in 1936, appears here alongside the Hall of Records (completed 1911), bracketing the date to approximately 1911–1915. Published by Edward H. Mitchell of San Francisco, one of the most prolific early California postcard publishers, and photographed by Wm.
