The photograph captures the château's ornate three-story elevation with its oval windows, decorative balustrades, and rounded corner bays in exquisite detail, the bare winter trees flanking the structure suggesting a late-season sitting circa 1870–1880. This is a carte-de-visite (CDV) format albumen photograph — not a postcard proper, but a collectible photographic card of the same era — bearing on the reverse the elegant pink-ink printed stamp of Garcin Photographe, Genève, with the banner reading Suisse et Savoie par Garcin Photographe Genève.
