Antique Postcard 1915 Kitten Forget-Me-Nots Basket Cat Chromolithograph

Washington, D.C. to Poolesville, Maryland, USA1915Pre-linenFair-Good

A tawny orange tabby kitten peers over a wicker basket overflowing with sky-blue forget-me-nots in this utterly charming chromolithograph postcard — the kind of sentimental novelty card that swept through Edwardian parlors and ended up tucked into scrapbooks for a century. The illustration is richly rendered with a warm amber background, the kitten's green eyes glinting with life, and a glass vase of more forget-me-nots visible behind. Surface cracking consistent with age lends it an authentic patina. In 1915, a young woman named Chris mailed this from Washington, D.C. to a Miss Hollos in Poolesville, Maryland — a small Montgomery County farming community that still feels worlds away from the capital. The one-cent Washington stamp, printed in green, anchors the card firmly in the golden age of American postcard collecting.
