Postcard 1910s RPPC Man Bowler Hat Suit Mustache Outdoor Studio Portrait Raymond

Unknown1910RPPCGood

Raymond stands full-length before a wrinkled canvas backdrop stretched outdoors — his bowler hat set square on a round cheerful face, a generous handlebar mustache parted by a broad grin, one hand dangling a pair of pince-nez spectacles with the nonchalance of a man who knows he looks well in his three-piece suit and ring — a portrait full of warmth and period character that speaks across more than a century. The outdoor improvised studio setting, with bare ground visible at the base of the canvas, suggests a traveling photographer or a fairground or carnival photographer, a common working-class portrait solution of the 1900–1915 era; the pince-nez held loosely in the hand rather than worn is a charming affectation. The reverse is identified in a later hand as "Raymond Walkman (? – 1933)" — giving this anonymous portrait a name and a death year, a poignant personalizing detail. The back format uses an "AZO" diamond stamp box, placing the paper stock between 1904 and 1918 (AZO four-triangle-up configuration = 1904–1918).
