Postcard 1940s NBC Radio City Hollywood Sunset & Vine Linen Unused

Hollywood, California, USA1938LinenExcellent

Glowing in mint-green Art Deco splendor, the NBC Radio City building at the legendary corner of Sunset and Vine practically hums with the invisible energy of radio waves in this vibrant linen-finish postcard from the 1940s — sleek automobiles of the era line the street while palm trees frame the streamline moderne façade bearing the bold vertical "NBC" letters that broadcast stardom across America. This was the Hollywood headquarters where Jack Benny, Bob Hope, and a galaxy of Golden Age radio stars performed live before studio audiences, and where curious visitors could tour the giant control rooms described on the back: "Inspection of studios, giant control room and other 'behind the scenes' of radio, is available to the general public." Published by Western Publishing & Novelty Co. of Los Angeles using the "C.T. Art-Colortone" process — the premium linen printing method of the era — this card perfectly encapsulates Hollywood's glamour at radio's zenith.
