Postcard 1940s Mount Hood Oregon Lost Lake Shore RPPC Scenic Unused

Mount Hood National Forest, Oregon, USA1945RPPCExcellent

Framed by the sweeping bough of a Pacific maple and a wall of dark Pacific fir, Mount Hood's snow-crowned volcanic cone floats above the mirror-still surface of Lost Lake in this serene real photo postcard — one of Oregon's most beloved scenic compositions, rendered here with the tonal richness that only silver-gelatin photography could achieve. Lost Lake, tucked in the Mount Hood National Forest at roughly 3,143 feet elevation, offers one of the classic reflective views of the 11,249-foot stratovolcano, and this card captures exactly why tourists and nature lovers made the pilgrimage. The "Cz" photographer's monogram in the lower right corner suggests a specific regional photographer active in the Pacific Northwest RPPC trade of the 1930s–40s. Unused and clean, with a penciled retail price of $0.25 on the reverse.
