Antique & Vintage Postcards

Tram rails glint in the cobblestones of the Rue Lecourbe as pedestrians in Edwardian dress stroll past a bustling row of Haussmann-era shopfronts in Paris's 15th arrondissement — a "Chocolat Menier en France" advertisement splashed boldly on one corner kiosk, and a "Parapluie" (umbrella) shop sign crowning another, creating an accidental time capsule of early-1900s working-class Parisian commerce. Published by E.F. Paris (catalog no. 1551), this crisply printed black-and-white card was sent by Alfred and Marie to family members — Camille and Joseph — back in the Mayenne region, with a warmly chatty message noting that the whole world is going well and that they're thinking of the approaching departure. The card, addressed to M. et Mme. Creinard at "La Yosyth des Champs, Subhammes, Mayenne," offers a lovely slice of Parisian social history and French family correspondence.
