Postcard RPPC Parliament House Canberra ACT 1935 Australia Lyrebird Stamp Austria

Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia1935RPPCGood

Sent by air from the sun-drenched new capital to a Vienna apartment, this crisp real-photo postcard of Canberra's Parliament House — the provisional building that served Australia's democracy from 1927 until 1988 — carries a poignant bilingual message in German. The sender, writing to F. and Mrs. Kirchner at Felberstraße 104 in Vienna XV, recommends "the Australian landscape" and speaks of homesickness ("Heimweh") in the adopted land. The card is franked with the iconic one-shilling Lyrebird stamp, cancelled at Canberra on 26 May 1935, and bears a "BY AIR MAIL / PAR AVION" blue label — making it a bona fide airmail cover-quality postcard, a format that commands strong collector interest. The copyright stamp on the reverse reads "Photo Graphic Strand" and is marked "Copyright Reserved."
