The card was posted on 14 March 1905 from Semmering to Vienna, addressed to a "Herrn Karl Weinzinger" at Josefstädterstraße 31, and carries a fond message beginning "Herzliche Grüße" (Heartfelt greetings) — someone named "Mutti" (mother) sending Alpine wishes to a Viennese family member. Franked with a 5 Heller Franz Joseph stamp of the Imperial Austrian series, this early undivided-back postcard is a beautifully preserved snapshot of Belle Époque resort life.
