Antique & Vintage Postcards

Bathed in the warm peachy glow of a hand-colorized sunset sky, the Kremserstrasse of St. Pölten unfolds in Edwardian splendor — tram tracks glinting down the cobbled boulevard, the bold red sign of the Hotel Kaiserin Österreich anchoring the left-hand streetscape, and a green-domed Art Nouveau corner building presiding regally on the right. St. Pölten, Lower Austria's capital at 267 meters above sea level, was a thriving commercial hub when this card was sent on 26 June 1921, addressed to Alois at Schillerstrasse, Linz, in care of a Gartner family. The back carries a lively message in purple ink, likely a brief holiday greeting. Published by P. Ledermann, Wien I, Fleischmarkt 20, a prolific Austrian postcard house active into the 1920s.
