This hand-tinted photographic art card of Devon's most-painted fishing village was rendered by Stanley F. Hughes, whose distinctive soft-wash colorization technique gave Clovelly postcards their dreamy, watercolour quality that made them among the most popular British scenic cards of the Edwardian era. Unposted, never written on, preserved in fine condition with only very minor age toning.
