Postcard Chrome Bangkok Thailand Selling Durian Fruit Market Soma Namle

Bangkok, Thailand1965ChromeGood

A young vendor crouches amid a towering wall of spiky durian fruit in a Bangkok street market, her nimble fingers prying open the pungent, custard-yellow flesh while dozens more of the armored orbs crowd baskets and the bare floor around her — a sensory explosion captured in vivid chrome color. Durian, the notoriously fragrant "King of Fruits," was already a tourist curiosity by the time this card was printed, and the Bangkok street-market scene became one of the most collectible subjects in mid-century Southeast Asia tourism cards. Published by Soma Namle, a well-known Bangkok postcard house operating from 1154 New Road near the GPO, the card is unused and retains strong color. A handwritten "75" suggests a former dealer price of 75¢.
