The postcard belongs to Valentine's Series, the celebrated St. Andrews firm of James Valentine & Sons, whose high-quality photographic topographic cards documented Victorian and Edwardian Britain with unmatched thoroughness. The undivided back — address only, no message space — and the instruction "Write here for Inland Postage only" date this firmly to the pre-1902/early divided-back transition era, making it one of the earlier Valentine's issues.
