Antique & Vintage Postcards

From the fairgrounds of San Antonio's only World's Fair, this vivid chrome-era promotional postcard captures the soaring Tower of the Americas — all 622 feet of it — rising above a painted panorama of downtown San Antonio on April 16, 1968, opening week of HemisFair '68. The illustrated rendering shows the fair's arena and exhibition halls nestled beside the city skyline, with the Alamo National Bank building visible in the background. On the back, a cheerful note from a sender (who signs "love") to "Ruthie and Jay," gushing that HemisFair is "great & exciting" and that the Hardman family reunion is underway with Ruby arriving that very day — a warm Easter holiday snapshot of midcentury American travel. Postmarked Wichita Falls, TX, April 16, 1968, the card was mailed to Mrs. Z.T. Wood at 618 Court St, Fort Worth, Texas.
