Postcard 1940s Hotel Bradford Boston MA Linen Colourpicture Unused

Boston, Massachusetts, USA1948LinenExcellent

The Hotel Bradford's handsome brick tower rises fourteen stories above Tremont Street in this warm linen-era card, the lobby inset glowing with mid-century moderne furnishings in gold and green — a hotel that once billed itself as home to the largest ballroom in New England, hosting 350 rooms, all with bath, in the heart of Boston. The Bradford opened in 1925 and was a fixture of Boston's grand hotel era, drawing travelers and conventioneers throughout the 1930s and 40s; the linen printing style and the "Place One Cent Stamp Here" box date this card to the pre-1952 period when the domestic postcard rate was still a penny. Published by Colourpicture of Boston, a prolific New England linen publisher, and managed under the Carol Management Hotel group, the unused card is bright and uncracked — a fine linen specimen for Boston hospitality collectors.
