The Dioscuri statues, originally from the Baths of Constantine and rearranged by Pope Pius VI in 1786, commanded the highest hill in Rome and the piazza that served as the forecourt of the royal palace. This undivided-back Italian postcard dates to the very early 1900s — the "Cartolina Postale Italiana (Carte Postale)" back format and undivided layout place it circa 1900–1904. Never mailed, the pristine back retains only a dealer's penciled price of "200" (lire or centesimi).
