Antique & Vintage Postcards

Patterned silk walls alive with circular medallions, a glittering crystal chandelier overhead, and an Empire-style sleigh bed draped in sumptuous fabric — this is the intimate bedroom of Napoleon I at the Grand Trianon, Versailles, preserved exactly as the Emperor left it and captured here in an official Musées Nationaux photographic postcard. The Empire furniture — a marquetry commode, Sèvres vases, gondola armchairs — tells the story of a warrior emperor who also demanded beauty and comfort at his fingertips. Issued by the Réunion des Musées Nationaux (RF seal, Château de Versailles), this is a museum-quality card from the mid-20th century, card no. 60 in the Grand Trianon series.
