Postcard 1960s Chrome Killarney Mountain Lodge Seaplane Georgian Bay Ontario

Killarney, Ontario, Canada1965ChromeExcellent

A brilliant yellow floatplane skims across the steel-blue waters of Killarney Channel in this mid-century chrome postcard, conjuring the golden age of Ontario fly-in fishing lodges when bush planes were as common as canoes. The aerial view reveals the full sprawl of Killarney Mountain Lodge on Georgian Bay — log-style cabins fanning out behind a rocky shoreline, a larger twin-engine floatplane docked at the ramp, and the Canadian flag snapping above the tree line. Killarney, a gateway village on the north shore of Georgian Bay, sits on the historic Voyageur canoe route; the lodge became a beloved destination for anglers and painters drawn to the La Cloche silica quartzite hills made famous by the Group of Seven. Published by Fry's Photo Shoppe of Gravenhurst, Ontario, with a color photograph by Henry Fry, this unused chrome card retains bright, unfaded color.
