Antique & Vintage Postcards

Gold leaf flourishes crown an ornate coffered ceiling as twin crystal chandeliers float above the vast Throne Room of Windsor Castle — one of Britain's most ceremonially charged interiors, captured here in Valentine's signature "Colourtone" hand-tinted process at the height of the Edwardian era. The gilded throne sits beneath a canopied heraldic backdrop, flanked by rows of white-and-gilt armchairs arranged for royal audiences, while a monumental full-length portrait in coronation robes dominates the left wall — almost certainly depicting Edward VII or Queen Alexandra. A marble bust presides from a pedestal at far right. This card was accessioned into the Cleveland Public Library Picture Collection, Fine Arts Division, catalogued with Dewey call number 728.81 under "England," making it a documented institutional research artifact as much as a collectible postcard.
