Antique & Vintage Postcards

Brilliant mid-century color brings the pomp of the British monarchy vividly to life in this chrome-era Valentine's postcard showing the Corps of Drums performing on the manicured lawn before Windsor Castle's Lower Ward — scarlet tunics blazing, bearskins towering, the Drum Major in his distinctive gold coat leading the formation with ceremonial authority. The great medieval towers of Windsor rise in the background beneath a painterly blue sky, presenting the castle in its most theatrical aspect. Published by Valentine & Sons Ltd. of Dundee and London under their "Valesque" 1240V style series, this card was never posted — the verso is entirely blank, preserving its pristine chrome finish. The "W — Printed in Gt. Britain" designation and Valesque branding place this firmly in the 1940s–1950s Valentine's production era.
