Antique & Vintage Postcards

Four jewel-like miniature color views are arranged on a single grey-bordered card in this elegant Edwardian souvenir, offering the Victorian tourist's ideal of England in one glance: Eton College shimmering beyond its riverside meadow, the soaring perpendicular Gothic of Eton College Chapel, Windsor Castle anchored behind its bridge, and the castle again surveyed majestically from the Home Park — lush, green, and quietly powerful. Published by the Pictorial Stationery Co. under their celebrated "Peacock Brand" Autochrom imprint and printed at the works in Saxony, Germany, this is a fine example of the pre-divided-back era's premium multi-view format, never mailed and retaining its bright original color. The back carries the characteristic Peacock Series layout with inland (½d.) and abroad (1d.) postage instructions, suggesting an approximate date of 1900–1902.
