Postcard Leipzig Augustusplatz vom Museum Germany c1905 Colorized Fold-Out

Leipzig, Germany1905Pre-linenFair-Good

A sweeping bird's-eye panorama of Leipzig's grand Augustusplatz — known today as Karl-Marx-Platz — unfolds in warm Wilhelmine-era tints, with horse-drawn trams threading across the broad cobbled expanse toward a columned museum façade at left and a Gothic spire rising at far right; a fluted fountain with ornamental planting anchors the foreground right. The caption reads "Augustusplatz vom Museum gesehen" (Augustus Square seen from the Museum), situating the viewpoint atop the Städtisches Museum. This card is the cover of a concertina-style fold-out booklet labeled "Leipzig I." that accordion-opens to reveal a strip of black-and-white interior vignettes of Leipzig landmarks including the Mägdebrunnen am Rossplatz fountain, a Siegesdenkmal victory monument, and the University façade — a charming multi-image souvenir format popular at the turn of the twentieth century. The back is unused and undivided.
