Flensburg Innenhafen Inner Harbor Steamships Germany Postcard c1910
Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, GermanyPre-linenGood
Black-and-white photographic postcard of Flensburg's inner harbor (Innenhafen), showing several steam vessels moored along the quay including one named "Habicht" (Hawk). The city skyline with church spire is visible in the background, and the calm water reflects the ships. A handwritten address note "Burgskr. 9 I." appears on the image face. Publisher: Verlag Th. Thomsen, Photograph, Flensburg. Posted Flensburg, October 8 [c.1910] to Herrn Franz Steindorff, Hamburg-St. Pauli, Schanzenstr. 6 III. Franked with a Germania 5 Pfennig green stamp (Scott 71, 1905 watermarked issue). The lively message from "Hugo" to his friend Franz describes his life as a new military recruit — introducing himself as the flank man of the 7th Company — in high spirits despite aching bones.
