Antique & Vintage Postcards

Reflected in the mirror-calm waters of Lake Lucerne, the grand Belle Époque railway station and post office of Luzern glow in soft grey tones against the dramatic jagged silhouette of Mount Pilatus still capped in snow — a composition so perfectly Swiss it almost feels too good to be true. This elegant halftone photograph captures the city at the height of its fame as the jewel of Swiss tourism, when visitors from across Europe and America arrived by rail to marvel at exactly this view. The card bears the publisher's CTK monogram and series number 1551, consistent with the Zurich firm Comptoir des Cartes Topographiques, active in the early 1900s. The back carries the full trilingual Swiss postal union imprint — "Suisse Schweiz Svizzera / Weltpostverein" — an undivided back indicating pre-1905 production, unused and clean.
